RIM & Recession

Just the facts, RIM 1 Comment »

Every single meeting I had in the last two months – that I did not post anything on my blog – was about IT heads saying they have their eyes fixed on the ball – doing more or same but certainly with less.

Remote Infrastructure Management is the surest way. But this can be misleading too. It is extremely important to know what capabilities one should look for in the RIM partner. Let me offer a few tips (not in any order and none being optional) -

1. RIM partner should be able to offer flexible models
2. Should have deep Network and Systems Integration skills
3. Be specialized in Security
4. Contribute in transformational projects for Business IT alignment
5. Offer best practices and have delivery Centre Certified
6. Introduce Automation and Standardization – processes and delivery
7. Should be able to co-locate systems closest to the Delivery team
8. Virtual staff augmentation of highest quality
9. Contribute to Architecture decisions
10. Innovate (and can mean so much)
11. Tools – best of breed
12. Improving Datacentre efficiency for power and space
13. Consolidate and optimize the network, systems and storage
14. Mitigate all risks connected with Business Services availability
15. Finally bring cost down by 20% in the first year

Our customers have chosen us for these reasons.

Conclusion – RIM Services is the way forward to better manage IT Infrastructure while reducing operational costs.

New fundamentals

It has been long gap.

Something that I told a customer the other day is something I discovered are new fundamentals.

It appears there are too many IT projects in organisations in the name to IT Business – Alignment these days. To me some of them look like an escape route to Architectural mistakes already made. It is important that IT does overhauling of processes and technologies already in use thus make itself agile service provider to business.

The escape route is leading to another silo. One shld just stop buying more technology unless validated that current investments have been maximized.

This is among the new fundamentals.

Think about it. I hope to list more of them in my future posts.

That’s how we will be known hereafter.

One and the only thing that is changing in Locuz – doing big!

We are “doing big”, an outcome of “thinking big”.

I am eager to write my post on the mega deal both Locuz and 3i Infotech will win leveraging each others strengths.

90% Growth

We are left with these last few days in the FY (31-March). Our business is up 90% this year and that is stupendous growth – one would say. Perhaps it is, especially when the segment (Enterprise SI and Infra Services) grew in the range of 28%.

This has been an eventful year at Locuz.

Projects and technology deployed by us remained of leading edge nature with some industry firsts again added.

Among other events –

Merger and then No-Merger

We stayed hot investment opportunity with just about everyone wanting to buy us out. We did take up a proposal and soon will announce.

This was another year with several accolades from partners like Cisco and Industry notably the special jury award at DQ Channel Excellence Awards.

The coming year will see us as a major force in 2 areas; first, Adaptive Enterprise providers/transformers and second being Remote Infrastructure Management – not be mistaken for what everyone else provides. Our is again doing it the Adaptive Enterprise – SOI & SOM way. And nobody does it this way – truth is nobody knows how to deliver value using SOI & SOM.
